39th Annual Black Heritage Festival

Thank you to Mrs. Georgia Calhoun for coordinating another successful
festival with approximately 250 people in attendance. This festival would
not have been possible if it weren’t for the hard work of a number of
volunteers: Mrs. Alice Ray, Mrs. Mary White, the Alpha Kappa Alpha society
sisters, the Freedom Riders, Honda Manufacturing of Alabama volunteers,
and more! Thank you to our many sponsors for donating your time and
money to such an inspiring event. A special thank you to Alabama Power
Company for sponsoring all of the participant lunches on the day of the
festival.

In March, the Anniston Museum of Natural History was proud to present a classroom set of Becoming by Michelle Obama and The Hate U Give by Angie
Thomas to the Anniston High School library in honor of Mrs. Georgia Calhoun’s dedication to the community and its children. This gift was made possible thanks to the generosity of Honda Manufacturing of Alabama.
